Children at Kanungu Humanist School have occasionally been provided with lunch food via donation from the Brighter Brains Institute (BBI), a California non-profit.

Lunch food is generally "posho" (corn meal) often served with vegetables, and - rarely - with chicken or goat meat.

BBI views providing lunch as crucial to the children's brain development and educational success. Many Ugandan children receive only one full meal a day (dinner). Their hunger prevents them from proper learning at school, if they don't receive nourishment mid-day.
